This week Heidelberg takes on Bundoora in the club's first away match for 2010. These two sides last met in the 2009 Grand Final when Heidelberg stormed home in the final quarter to record a 64-point win and fourth successive Premiership. There has been much history between these two sides, particularly in recent times with a staggering four Grand Finals played out between Heidelberg and Bundoora since 2004. |

Heidelberg has opened its 2010 campaign on a successful note defeating Lalor in all 3 games in what were near perfect conditions for football. The reserve side set the early pace with a huge 141-point win. Congratulations to HFC debutants Fabian Dorbolo, Josh Iezzi, Jeremy Datson, Scott Moran, Terrence Lieschke and Shane Baring. We must also congratulate new coach Shane Lyons on his smooth transition into the coaching ranks after several successful years assisting Phil Plunkett. The signs are looking good for the reserves with plenty of numbers on the track and influx of younger players coming up from the under 19's. |

Heidelberg is only days away from round 1 of the 2010 Division One Northern Football League season. After three hard fought practice matches and a grueling pre-season campaign over summer the Tigers will take on Lalor this Saturday and unfurl the Premiership flag at our home ground, Warringal Park. In 2009 Heidelberg met Lalor on two occasions and won both times by an average margin of 106 points. During their first meeting back in May of last year the Bloods almost pulled off the upset of the season and at one stage lead the undefeated Tigers by 37-points. |
